Questions to ponder

You are invited to use these questions however is helpful to you in reflecting on our service. When we follow a series, we also offer some further study notes for those who want to go a little deeper. These can be used individually or in groups — however works best for you.

  • This week has given an overview of the topic whole life worship so you are bound to have questions. However, is this a way you have thought about worship before?
  • Where are you on a scale of 1-10 in terms of whole life worship (1 being ‘I’m not even a Sunday worshipper; 10 being ‘God shapes everything’)?
  • Are you already aware of any areas of your life that do not aligned with God’s will? Pray about this and ask the Spirit to help you become more like Jesus.
  • Thinking about Romans 1-11, what are some of the highlights for you of what God has done for us?

QUESTIONS TO PONDER

You are invited to use these questions however is helpful to you in reflecting on our service. When we follow a series, we also offer some further study notes for those who want to go a little deeper. These can be used individually or in groups — however works best for you.

  • Reflect on 1 Peter 2:21. How does this verse (and the section around it) influence your understanding of suffering?
  • In an interview, Joni Eareckson Tada (who lives with disability — short video about her here) said this: “If God being good means he has to get rid of sin, it means he would have to get rid of sinners. God is a God of great generosity and great mercy, so he is keeping the execution of suffering. He’s not closing the curtain on suffering until there is more time to gather more people into the fold of Christ’s fellowship.” What do you think about this?
  • Amazingly, Andy’s illness has given him new opportunities to share the gospel. However, this didn’t happen over night. For most, when facing a significant life change, we will go on a journey with our faith; doubt is common in Christ’s followers (see John 14:5-9) and suffering can envelop us in a kind of spiritual darkness that makes us forget all we know about God and his goodness. How might John 14:10-11 strengthen our faith?
  • Share with others a time when you’ve felt far from God. What helped bring you back? If you’re not back yet, what would help you on your journey? Spend some time praying for each other.
