Gateway café

Gateway café

Gateway café is currently closed on Saturdays. We will post an update when it’s reopening (April 2024)

Gateway café exists to serve our local community as a practical demonstration of God’s love. We seek to make good quality ‘homemade’ food and drinks available at a reasonable cost. Open every Saturday from 9.30am to 3.30pm all are welcome at our community café.

We are a not-for-profit cafe, run by volunteers from the church, with any proceeds going towards local and international good causes. We are a Fairtrade cafe, who offer a variety of food for different tastes; check out our menu. The cafe was refurbished in 2021, adding a new soft-seating area, better shaped tables and a fresh coat of paint!

We’re always happy to chat with you and take time to pray, if you’d like. Pay-what-you-can food and drink is always available for those who are in need — just chat with the staff on duty. Do pop in whenever you can — we’d love to see you.

The café is part of Castle Hill Baptist Church, located at the top of Smith Street (opposite Eastgate). It has quite a history involving a runaway tram — why not ask for Arthur who will gladly tell you the story when you’re next visiting!

The rest of the week…

Although we’re not open to the general public we continue to serve our local community through:
Meet ‘n’ Eat — a monthly space for friends to socialise and enjoy a freshly cooked two-course meal for only £5! Booking is a must.
Gateway 2 Gaming — a monthly youth club based around board games and conversation.
