It is natural to have big questions — why are we here? Have we any purpose? Is this all there is? At CHBC, we believe the message and person of Jesus offers life-changing answers to questions like these.
Christianity Explored gives you time and space to consider the big questions of life. Our aim is to help people investigate Christianity in a relaxed and accessible way, and we encourage guests to come with all of their questions.
You will also get a chance to read one of the eyewitness accounts of Jesus’ life over the duration of an seven week course with the option for further investigation afterwards. We promise not to ask you to pray, sing or read outloud.

Who’s this for?
> Those who call themselves a ‘beginner’ (with very little/no knowledge of Christianity);
> Those from another faith background;
> Those believers who’d like to brush up on the basics.
If you’re inviting someone along, it really helps to come with them so you can journey together over the course.
What does each session look like?
Each session lasts about one and a half hours. Accompanied by refreshments, the group watches a short video together covering different aspects of the Christian faith before spending time discussing what we’ve heard. We hope it will be fun whilst challenging.
How’s this different from other Christian courses?
The course is built on following Mark’s Gospel which helps us think about who Jesus is, what He taught, and what it means to follow Him. There is also some ‘homework’ to do between sessions to help you get the most out of our time together.
The course covers questions, such as: What do Christians believe? Who is Jesus Christ? Did he really exist? Is he really God? If he did exist and he is God, what did he say while he was here on earth? Does he really tell us what the point of life is?
What aren’t you telling me?
We want to be up front so if you’ve any questions, please ask! The course is free. No previous knowledge of the Bible or Christianity is assumed. If you’re not enjoying it you can stop at any time but we do ask you chat to the leaders about this out of courtesy.
We just count it a privilege to be able to help people explore who Jesus is and what we believe. Whilst we certainly won’t have all the answers, we do hope some will be answered and you’ll be blessed by your time with us.
Meet Our hosts: Liz and Andrew short
Andrew had a Christian mother but became a Christian at University after meeting other Christians and exploring the faith. He is married to Liz and they have two grown up children. He recently retired from being a doctor. He enjoys history, wine and food.
Liz comes from a non-Christian family but went to church at University where she became a Christian. She met Andrew whilst working as a midwife, and is currently serving as part of the Baby Basics team. She enjoys cooking, likes to read and spend time in the garden.
