Reflection Luke 22 (from a study I have been following alongside the CHBC one)
“It seems almost unbelievable to me that there is any part of this week that Jesus ‘eagerly desired’ – but those are the exact words he uses when speaking of his last supper. He actively wanted to share this experience with his disciples And, through the taking of communion in our own churches and communities, with us too. ”
    What a priviledge.

Thanks Kevin for encouraging us to take time to pause and reflect this Lent. I’m sure more people are joining in with this than this blog actually records. People are so busy.
I will miss the Tuesday zooms and the chance to meet, share and reflect. We are grateful that you are our Pastor and we praise God for you and your ministry to us.

So enjoying meeting on line on Tuesday nights to discuss the book. Making me appreciate my life and all the fullness of it. Thanks Kevin for facilitating this. So appreciated.

At 12.30 today, coinciding with the lunchtime prayers, I was strolling and sitting in the Harcourt Arboretum Oxford with Helen and Andy. The Lord was present and very evident as I gazed at His amazing creation, the trees seeming to reach nearly to the clear blue sky, the warmth of the sunshine, the birds singing and even the peacocks roaming around ! Amazing ! In the 10 months since my Alan died, I have experienced so much of God’s amazing love in the love and support of my family, my friends inside and outside of church not to mention the encouraging weekly services and messages. I have been reading and re-reading the words of the suggested hymn ‘Just as I am’ and again am AMAZED that we are/I am, accepted ‘just as I am’ with all my
faults, however I feel……’tossed about’ in the world we live in. ‘I’m accepted, I’m forgiven, I am fathered by the true and loving God’.

Good memories of our Church Walks together,
this comes from my reading today as we walk together through Lent

“Walking solo and walking with others are both powerful metaphors for our journey through faith and through life.
Walking alone offers solitude and space for personal reflection.
Walking with others offers encouragement and safety.”

Really enjoying reading Jane Williams’s book on the Merciful Humility of God. Easy to read and very encouraging. Fascinating biographies of well known Christians from the past- particularly enjoyed Julian of Norwich and her understanding of God’s love.

Another new week of Lent to find those quiet times to pause in our busy days and know that others are doing the same.

The book ‘Jesus Calling’ tells us that “ Waiting, TRUSTING, and Hoping are intricately connected. Like golden strands interwoven to form a strong chain. TRUSTING is the central strand because it is the response from the Lord’s ‘children’ that He desires the most”
Not easy – but as we journey together both as individuals and as a church family, we pray that God will help us to wait expectantly. in hopeful trust for His leading.

So important to stop rushing around and Pause for a while,
knowing other friends will be doing the same today in various ways.
    Thank you.
