18 OCT REFLECTIONS

This is a page where we can compile our reflections from this prayer and fasting day. What struck you—a Bible verse? a song? poem? picture? a sense? an idea? Feel free to post in the comments below so others can see.

If there are things that you found helpful or resources you’d appreciate, post those too. Let’s support one another in this practice.

As I told the friends later in the day, I had to spend the day around and about the area.
I saw so many people and as I was near them or passing their homes I wanted them to know as I prayed that there is a God who loves them. There were many on the busses, circulating the upper Parade area in town, at the hospital, in the waiting areas, then in the cafeteria where I had a light picnic.
Some time then in the Chapel, more in the waiting area, some we got into conversation but so many just passing by. There is a world out there which God loves.
Later I was around a table with 3 others, supporting each other.

We were encouraged to read the passage (Matthew 28:18-20) in different translation.
    Two translations challenged me:
The Message translation reads: go out and train everyone you meet, far and near…..
Reminded me again that sharing Jesus with others starts with those nearest to me.

The AMP translation reads: go therefore and make disciples of all the nation’s (help people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words).
This struck me when thinking of all the activities we do at church, we must also consider how we move from learning about Him to believing in him.

I also read verses 16 & 17 and they challenged me! Reading again from The Message translation: The momentary saw him they worshiped him. Some though held back, not sure about worship or about risking themselves totally.
If we’re following Jesus there can be no holding back – we should feel free and be willing to take risks in our quest to share the good news. With God it’s all or nothing.

Psalm 91 includes the words “He will cover you with His feathers and underneath His wings, you will find refuge”. We have had a daily reminder of these words with a Peahen and it’s chick, no larger than a pigeon, who have taken up residence in our garden. The pea chick emerges every morning from under its Mother’s wings reminding us all of the security we can each know by “living under the shadow of His, our Heavenly Father’s, wings. M.P. 423.
