The. Music from The Messiah has been going round in my head “He was despised and rejected+–” Now “All we like sheep have gone astray –“e

In the evening prayer i had a sort of picture in my mind’s eye – a sense of moving forwards, hovering forwards over something like a drone would or like zooming into an abstract, gentle picture slowly. Really not sure whether that was something from God or me being tired after a long day.

Keeva, your very helpful reflection brought to mind the chorus…..
‘The wise man built his house upon the rock…’. solid ground that is Jesus…on whom we CAN depend.

    Fix your thoughts on Jesus
    that’s how it begins
    not on the headlines
    not on the what ifs
not on the voices that tell us everything is shaking

    fix your thoughts

we are good at fixing them elsewhere
    on comparison
    on disappointment
on the ways things didn’t turn out as planned

but the God who is faithful
    has given us Christ
    not as a passing encouragement
    not as a temporary leader
but as Son over the house

    Moses was faithful
    steady
    obedient
    and that mattered

    but Christ
is not just part of the story
    he is the foundation
    and we
    we are that house

    not bricks and timber
    but breathing lives
    held together by trust

    if we hold fast
    not in panic
    not with clenched fists
    but with quiet confidence
    the God who is builder
    has not abandoned the work

    even when cracks appear
    even when faith feels fragile
even when the walls seem thin

    fix your thoughts

on the One who does not shift
on the One whose faithfulness does not flicker

    Lent pulls us back
    from distraction
    from drift
    to centre
    to Christ
and the God who is steadfast
    keeps holding the house together
    including us

We’re all familiar with Ask, Seek, Knock regarding prayer.
But the New Living Translation says:
Keep on asking, keep on seeking , keep on knocking, which suggests investing in our prayers. Not just mentioning things to God but pleading with him and not letting go.
